Title: | Sustainable development of an international maritime centre | Authors: | Chie, Khang Ning. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Maritime studies::Maritime management and business | Issue Date: | 2012 | Abstract: | In this era of globalization, countries compete with one another to attain maritime supremacy. Having a lead in market shares, innovative technology and global operations is no longer sufficient to maintain one's position. Maritime industries face fragmentation by geographical boundaries, sectors and company size on top of increasing stiff competition from global players. In order to ward off competition from other maritime nations, it is imperative that a country creates an integrated maritime cluster to most importantly, exploit the unlimited global market opportunities as well as to continue to defend its position in the global maritime industry.
