Title: | Modification of glucose biosensor with reduced graphene, palladium and platinum nanoparticles. | Authors: | Zhong, Shihui. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Bioengineering | Issue Date: | 2013 | Abstract: | Electrochemical biosensors have gained considerable attention in the research field due to their practical advantages of specificity, high sensitivity, response time, accuracy and easy manipulation. In addition, they have demonstrated to be an important analytical tool to quantify analytes of biomedical interests such as glucose. We fabricated a novel type of flexible non-enzymatic electrochemical biosensor based on reduced graphene oxide (rGO) modified with PdPt alloy. The PdPt alloy was grown on the rGO by a one-step template-free electrodeposition. The flexible electrode displays unique structural and electrochemical characteristics such as increased active surface area, accelerated electron transfer and improved catalytic performance. In the non-enzymatic amperometric glucose detection, the PdPt-rGO modified electrode exhibits significant improvements in sensing performance such as stability, mechanical flexibility and reproducibility. The fabrication of PdPt alloy on free-standing carbon substrates provides new innovations and opportunities for the development of flexible non-enzymatic nanohybrid electrochemical sensors. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/53695 | Schools: | School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
