Title: | The Souvenir Gifting Process | Authors: | Lim, Emily Hui Si | Keywords: | DRNTU::Social sciences | Issue Date: | 2017 | Abstract: | With the decreasing cost of international travel and the ever-increasing middle class, burgeoning number of people are participating in international travels. Singaporeans are projected to be the 7th top overseas spender by 2025. Therefore, souvenir gifting is said to be getting more prominent with years on the little red dot. Much attention had been paid to mainstream gifting but there is a lack of attention in souvenir gifting. To understand souvenir gifting as a social phenomenon, this paper examines the process of souvenir gifting based on four themes: motives for souvenir gifting, the souvenir gifting process, outcomes of souvenir gifting and the aftermath. In addition, the paper also highlights key gender differences regarding souvenir gifting and offers possible explanations. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/70069 | Schools: | School of Humanities and Social Sciences | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
