Cristina is a Senior Lecturer in the Centre for Modern Languages (CML), School of Humanities (SoH), at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She has been instrumental in establishing and strengthening the Spanish Department since its inception in 2002. She holds the position of Spanish Programme Coordinator and, besides teaching at all levels of Spanish proficiency, she is also an accredited examiner for the DELE (Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language), administered by the Instituto Cervantes and issued by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Spain.

She is a firm believer in integrating enabling technology into the curriculum with the aim to best support students in achieving the course learning objectives while providing them with the best possible learning experience. Thus, she has developed blended learning courses that integrate game-based learning technology and peer instruction into the curriculum design and assessment through the adoption of the Flipped Classroom model.

She has published in the areas of Emotion in SLA, Technology-Enhanced Language Learning (TELL), Language learning strategies and Oral presentation to improve language skills.
