Dr. Guo Jian is currently a tenured Associate Professor with NTU/SPMS. He is also a founding and incumbent Program Co-Director of Master of Science in Cyber Security.

His major research interest is symmetric-key cryptography, including cryptanalysis, design and implementation of (lightweight) hash functions, block ciphers, authenticated encryption schemes, and their applications such as message authentication codes. Among others, he published 50+ papers in top conferences and journal under the International Association for Cryptologic Research, which received 4000+ citations according to Google Scholar.

He is founding co-chair of ASK --- Asian workshop on Symmetric-Key cryptography: http://ask.crypto.sg. He served/will serve as program co-chair of Asiacrypt 2023, general (co-)chair of FSE 2013 and ASIACRYPT 2021, program committee members of FSE 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, ASIACRYPT 2017, 2019, 2020, 2022, EUROCRYPT 2018, 2020, CRYPTO 2024, ACM CCS 2024 etc, and reviewer for all major cryptography conferences and journals. He was invited to talk at FSE 2019 and Asiacrypt 2022 on cryptanalysis. He is a member of ASIACRYPT steering committee representing for Singapore, and also a member of the Security and Privacy Standards Technical Committee acting as Singapore delegate of the International Standardization ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 27. He has been leading the Cryptanalysis Taskforce research team at NTU: http://catf.crypto.sg since 2014.

In 2022, he became the first elected cryptographer from Singapore to the Board of Directors of International Association for Cryptologic Research. There he also serves in several sub-committees of IACR, such as the IACR Schools Committee since 2022, and the IACR Test-of-Time Awards Committee in 2023.
