He joined NTU’s School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering in 1999. Prior to that, he worked as a software engineer in a medical R&D Centre and taught Mathematics as a lecturer in a university. Over the years, he has been doing interdisciplinary research and education with competitive funding support from National Research Foundation, Singapore Millennium Foundation, Ministry of Education, Ministry of InfoComm and The Art and so on.
He has been actively collaborating with leading international scientists from John Hopkins School of Medicine, University of Toronto, Utrecht University, etc. Locally in Singapore, he has been working closely with practitioners from Singapore General Hospital, National Cancer Centre, Institute of Molecular & Cell Biology, National Library Board, MOE schools (e.g., Raffles Institution, and Hwa Chong Institution), HDB, and JTC. In NTU, he has partnered in a good number of projects with colleagues from NIE, SCBE, SPMS, SCSE, WKWSCI, CHC, ERI@N, etc. Presently, he is principal investigator of The Underwater Robotics team with SAAB-NTU Joint Lab, as well as of The Intelligent Building Imaging team with Surbana Jurong-NTU Corp Lab. Several of IPs he co-invented have been licensed for commercialization.
