Profile
Professor Yiyu Cai leads the Computer-aided Engineering Labs, and the Digitalization Cluster with the Energy Research Institute @ NTU. He is also deputy director of NTU's Center of Augmented & Virtual Reality. He was Deputy Director of NTU's Institute for Media Innovation, Bioinformatics Research Centre, and Nanyang Center for Supercomputing and Visualization.
Interdisciplinary Research, International Collaboration, Industrial Partnership, and Innovative Technopreneurship
His research interests include VR, AI, Robotics and their applications in healthcare, building & constructions, and education with funding support from Singapore’s National Research Foundation, Temasek Trust Funded Singapore Millennium Foundation, Ministry of Education, etc. He has co-invented 10 international patents and published 9 books (Springer) and over 200 technical articles in leading journals and peer-reviewed international conferences. He has organized more than 20 international conferences including the prestigious AI medical conference MICCAI'2022, IEEE conference ISMAR'2022, and 40th Annual Conference of ISAGA'2008 in Singapore. He has given near 50 keynote or invited speeches all over the world.
He is an active promotor and practitioner for interdisciplinary research, international collaboration, industrial partnership, and innovative technopreneurship working in the intersection of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics, partnering with world class organizations including John Hopkins Medical School (USA), NVIDIA, University of Toronto (Canada), University of Utrecht (The Netherlands), University College London (UK), SAAB (Sweden), Singapore General Hospital, Surbana-Jurong Group (Singapore), etc. He was the former president of International Simulation and Gaming Association.
