Academic Profile

Ho Jin Yao joined the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) as an International Postdoctoral Scholar on February 2020. He received his BEng, MEng and PhD from NTU in 2010, 2015 and 2019, respectively. His PhD research focused on the development of novel structures for enhanced natural and forced convection condensation. Between June 2015 and September 2019, he was a Research Associate of MAE and, subsequently, a Research Fellow between October 2019 and January 2020. During these periods, he has worked on several research projects related to the enhancements of single-phase and two-phase heat transfer using additively manufactured structures and the development of a new cooling system for high ambient temperature data centre applications. Prior to joining NTU, he had worked for several years in the defence and building industries, providing consultancy services for buildings’ mechanical system designs. He is a Registered Professional Engineer (Mechanical) in Singapore.

Jin Yao is currently a Visiting Scholar at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His scholarship is supported by the CoE MOE Talent Development Scheme (MTS).
