Dr Ng Chiew Hong, PhD (Monash), Masters in Applied Linguistics (NTU), FCollT (London), is a Senior Lecturer in the English Language and Literature Academic Group at the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore). She was formerly teaching English Language and Literature in secondary schools and was the Level Head for English and the Senior Subject Teacher for Literature. Since joining NIE in 2000 as a teacher educator, she has led and taught pre-service, in service and postgraduate curriculum studies/pedagogical courses: language teaching approaches as well as reading, listening, speaking, writing and grammar pedagogies. Her recent work has been published in Education and Information Technologies, International Journal of TESOL Studies and Changing English. She has also published book chapters with Routledge, Springer, Palgrave Macmillan and Pearson Education South Asia.
Dr Ng Chiew Hong's research areas include reading/reading comprehension, literacies for learning needs, teacher cognition as well as pedagogies for reading comprehension, grammar, writing and oral communication. She has researched on reading on the internet for her PhD.
