Assoc Prof Leong Yew Hoong

Assoc Prof Leong Yew Hoong has been with the National Institute of Education since 2001. He received his B.Sc (Hon) from the National University of Education, MEd (Mathematics) from the Nanyang Technological University, and PhD (Education) from the University of Melbourne. His main research interests include classroom instructional innovations and concomitant teacher professional development within the context of mathematics education. He has more than 80 publications in journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings.
Prior to joining NTU, he taught mathematics under the Ministry of Education. He began as a mathematics teacher in Jurong Junior college and went on to he Head of Department (Mathematics) in Nan Hua Secondary school. He also served short stinits as part-time lecturer in Nanyang Polytechnic.
Yew Hoong is sought after as a consultant by Mathematics Departments of numerous secondary schools. To date, he has provided consultancy services to more than 20 Singapore secondary schools. He is also actively engaged in research leadership work in the international academic community within his field of expertise. He is currently an Editor in the Mathematics Education Research Journal - a top-tier journal within the field of mathematics education. He is also an editor of of academic books and conference proceedings.
