Dr Mohamed Aidil Subhan is a bilingual scholar who research and teach on language policy and planning, curriculum design and development, pedagogical approaches and values teaching. With more than 30 years of experience in education, he is currently a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for Higher Degree courses at the Asian Languages & Cultures Academic Group. Besides researching and teaching, Dr Aidil is a consultant for the Singapore Islamic Religious Council's Malay Language Centre for Excellence and Collaboration, MOE's Steering Committee for Malay Language Instructional Material, People's Association Talent Assessment Panel, the National Library Consultative Panel, and Mediacorp's Malay News and Current Affairs Advisory Panel. He has published 2 books on Malay Language planning in Singapore which includes his 6 Big Ideas in Malay Language teaching and learning as well as his take on the future of the Malay Language in Singapore approaching 2065.
Dr Aidil's areas of expertise are language policy and planning, school-based curriculum design, differentiated instructions and values teaching. He has edited and published 2 books on Malay language planning - Bilingualism and Malay Language Planning in Singapore (2018) and Issues in Malay Language Planning (2020). He researches on differentiated instructions as part of his 6 Big Ideas in teaching and learning focusing on translanguaging as a teaching technique.
