Boon Liang Chua has been a mathematics educator most of his career. In the course of more than two decades, he taught mathematics in secondary schools, headed the mathematics department in two secondary schools and conducted numerous professional development courses for mathematics teachers not only in Singapore but in other countries from Brazil and Jamaica, to Cambodia, China, Guinea, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, and The Philippines.
Boon Liang obtained his PhD in mathematics education from the Institute of Education, University College London, UK. He is currently an Assistant Professor in mathematics education at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Using his knowledge of mathematics and rich experience in teaching, Boon Liang seeks to inspire mathematics teachers to appreciate the power and beauty of mathematics. He was awarded Excellence in Teaching by the National Institute of Education in 2009, 2013 and 2020.
