NG Kit Ee Dawn is a senior lecturer with the Mathematics and Mathematics Education Academic Group at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She holds a PhD in mathematics education from University of Melbourne, Australia. She teaches a wide range of courses in initial teacher preparation and professional development programmes for primary and secondary levels. She has been actively supervising postgraduate students and teaching higher degree courses.
She has received teaching excellence commendation awards from the National Institute of Education and research awards from Mathematics Education Research Group of Australasia and University of Melbourne. One of her research projects entitled “Building Teachers’ Capacity in Incorporating Mathematical Modelling in Primary schools” won top 10 in SEAMEO-Australia Education Links Award in 2015.
Her professional development courses, invited keynotes, talks and workshops are aligned with her research interests. These include the use of real-world tasks (e.g. problems in real-world contexts, applications and mathematical modelling) in the teaching and learning of mathematics, teacher education on metacognition, and assessment literacy of mathematics teachers.
Dr Dawn Ng has published in journals, books and conference proceedings to share her research. She also contributes at editorial boards of journals. Her eBook published in 2020 on the Constructivist Learning Design has been supporting teacher professional development and networked learning communities at the Academy of Singapore Teachers, Ministry of Education, Singapore, as well as Singapore secondary schools. She is currently working on a large-scale programmatic research entitled “Paving the Way Towards Lifewide and Lifelong Learning: Exploring and Fostering Metacognition for Learning and Transfer”. Dr Dawn Ng is currently the Assistant Dean for the Postgraduate Diploma in Education Programme with the Office of Teacher Education at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
