Dr Poh Soon Koh

Poh Soon Koh is a lecturer at the National Institute of Education (NIE), English Language & Literature academic group. He was previously head of English & Literature department of two secondary schools before joining NIE. He left the Ministry of Education (MOE) as a Senior Education Officer. While holding the appointment of head of English, Poh Soon Koh held the concurrent appointment of School Staff Developer (SSD) in charge of teachers' professional development. Poh Soon Koh was formerly the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of a School Advisory Committee (SAC).
My main research and teaching interests are in the areas of teacher learning including beginning teachers’ experience and their transition to schools. I examine the role of cognition in learning especially the role of sociocultural experiences and the influence of social structures. I am interested in the interaction between mind, culture and language. The other areas that I am interested in are technology-enabled teaching and learning and language teaching methodology.
