Dr. Nicolette Waschl is a Research Scientist at the Centre for Research in Child Development, National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Dr. Waschl earned her Bachelor of Psychology at Monash University, Australia, and obtained an Honours degree in Health Sciences (Psychology) and Ph.D. in psychology at the University of Adelaide, Australia.

Dr. Waschl’s research is largely focused on measurement and psychometrics, and she has been involved in the validation and norming of psychoeducational instruments in the local Singapore context. She is also interested in issues of data reuse and database management, as well as assessment and the transition from preschool to primary school.
Dr. Waschl has published research on psychometrics and assessment in various contexts, including early intervention and classroom settings. She has experience with factor analysis, structural equation modeling and item response theory/Rasch analysis. She has a particular interest in adaptation and validation of psychoeducational instruments for the local context and use of newer technologies and methods of analysis for data collection and analysis. Additionally, Dr. Waschl is interested in understanding the transition from preschool to primary school with a view to understanding how assessment can be used to improve experiences and outcomes of this transition.
