Dr Robbie Lee Sabnani is a Lecturer in the English Language and Literature Academic Group at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics, an MBA and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (Distinction). Robbie’s instructional and research interests include speaking and listening, oracy skills and processes, metacognitive awareness in language learning, teacher beliefs and knowledge and the development of teacher expertise. As faculty of the English Language and Literature Academic group, Robbie chairs and manages several courses on language enhancement and academic discourse skills. She currently teaches graduate, pre- and in-service as well as undergraduate courses on professional English, communication skills, speaking and listening development, and language studies at NIE. Robbie publishes on pedagogical practice and language education research. She contributes to theory and practice through invited keynotes and presentations at conferences. Her recent publications include a book chapter with Cambridge University Press as well as articles in international journals such as TESOL Quarterly and several others. Robbie was awarded the prestigious Dean’s Commendation for Research award in 2019 in recognition of research excellence.
