Dr Zeng Jialiu
Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine)
Jialiu obtained her Ph.D. from Boston University where she investigated the role of lysosomal acidity in autophagic flux and cellular function in metabolic diseases including Type II diabetes (T2D) and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), as well as neurodegenerative diseases (Parkinson’s disease, PD) using novel synthesized nanoparticles. She moved on to do a postdoctoral training at Yale School of Medicine where she focused on studying alpha-synuclein pathology along the gut-brain axis in PD and investigating the role of glycosphingolipids in the pathogenesis of Gaucher-disease linked PD, using human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) derived neuronal models and CRISPR-Cas9 technology.
Jialiu’s research interest focuses on neurodegeneration and lysosomal acidification dysfunction related disorders, specifically related to metabolic diseases and PD.
