John Qi Dong is an associate professor (with tenure) at Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University, and a visiting research fellow at Center for Digital Innovation, Georgia State University. He received a PhD in information systems from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Before moving to Singapore, he worked at Trinity College Dublin, University of Dublin and University of Groningen. He conducts computational and empirical research at the intersection of information systems and strategic management. His research has been published in premier scholarly journals such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Strategic Management Journal, and Journal of Management, as well as leading practitioner journals such as MIS Quarterly Executive. According to Google Scholar, his publications have received more than 4000 citations.

He serves as an associate editor for MIS Quarterly and as a senior editor for Journal of the Association for Information Systems. He is the recipient of numerous honors and awards, including the MIS Quarterly Outstanding Associate Editor Award in 2022, the Professorial Fellowship of Trinity College Dublin, University of Dublin in 2022, the Research Excellence Award from Trinity College Dublin, University of Dublin in 2021, the Best Short Paper Award (finalist) at International Conference on Information Systems in 2021, the Association for Information Systems Early Career Award in 2020, the Best Paper Award (finalist) at Strategic Management Society Special Conference in 2018, the Outstanding Junior Researcher Award from University of Groningen in 2017, the Best Paper Award (runner-up) at Academy of Management Annual Meeting in 2015, and the Dean's PhD Fellowship for Research Excellence from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2013.
