John Qi Dong is an associate professor (with tenure) at Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University. He currently also serves as an associate editor for MIS Quarterly, and as a senior editor for Journal of the Association for Information Systems. Previously, he was a tenured faculty member at Trinity College Dublin and University of Groningen, and received a PhD in information systems from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He conducts computational and empirical research at the intersection of information systems and strategic management, with a focus on digital innovation and transformation. His research appears in premier journals such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Marketing, and Journal of Management. His publications have received more than 6000 citations according to Google Scholar, and Stanford University named him in the World's Top 2% Scientists (No. 136 in 18561 information systems scholars for 2024).

He is the recipient of numerous honors and awards, including the Best Paper Award at Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems in 2024, the Association for Information Systems Mid-Career Award in 2023, the MIS Quarterly Outstanding Associate Editor Award in 2022, the Professorial Fellowship of Trinity College Dublin in 2022, the Research Excellence Award from Trinity College Dublin in 2021, the Best Short Paper Award (finalist) at International Conference on Information Systems in 2021, the Association for Information Systems Early Career Award in 2020, the Best Paper Award (finalist) at Strategic Management Society Special Conference in 2018, the Outstanding Junior Researcher Award from University of Groningen in 2017, the Best Paper Award (1st runner-up) at Academy of Management Annual Meeting in 2015, and the Dean's PhD Fellowship for Research Excellence from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2013.
