Dr. Samantha Chan's research is at the intersection of Human-Computer Interactions (HCI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) where she develops and studies digital, wearable, and AI interfaces to support human cognitive abilities and cognitive health.

Prior to NTU, Dr. Chan was a Postdoctoral researcher at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT Media Lab, and was awarded the MoE START (Singapore Teaching and Academic Research Talent) / International Postdoctoral Fellowship. She holds a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and a Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Product Development, Electrical Engineering) from Singapore University of Technology and Design.

Dr. Chan's work on memory augmentation interfaces has been published in premier HCI journals and conferences such as CHI, IMWUT/Ubicomp, CSCW, and ISMAR. Her works have received several awards and recognitions, including Fast Company World Changing Ideas and "Gold Pin" New Zealand Best Design Awards (best in category). They have also been showcased in Prototypes for Humanity and Dubai Future Solutions.
