Dr Michele Nguyen is a Lecturer with the Nanyang Business School and College of Computing and Data Science in Nanyang Technological University (NTU). She received her PhD in Mathematics Research (Statistics) from Imperial College London. Prior to joining NTU, she was a postdoctoral researcher in Geospatial Epidemiology at the Malaria Atlas Project in the University of Oxford. She later worked as a Research Fellow in the Disaster Analytics for Society lab and as a co-instructor of the Data Science course at the Asian School of the Environment, NTU.
Her research interests are in risk analysis for the environment and public health, and the development of advanced statistical methods involving spatial statistics, time series analysis and extreme value modelling. She has published in prestigious journals across multiple disciplines including Nature Sustainability, Scientific Reports, Risk Analysis and the Lancet. Her work has also been featured in the World Health Organisation’s World Malaria Report and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction’s Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction.
