He lectures in strategic communications at Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University. He covers multiple disciplines such as advertising and journalism. He also provides consultation and training for large organizations (DBS, Canon) in the areas of Generative AI, AI imaging and communications.

His 22-year career has spanned across the media, consumer technology and gaming industries. He started out as a journalist and went on to become a global marketer and business leader.

At Lenovo, he led the Asia-Pacific gaming hardware division across 12 markets, driving the adoption of AI-capable computers. As the sales and marketing leader, he more than doubled division revenue to $420M USD within his three-year tenure.

At Razer, he headed global marketing, overseeing 120 marketers across all marketing disciplines and was part of the C-suite team that achieved Razer’s $4B USD IPO in 2017.

At Microsoft, he managed sales and marketing for the Xbox 360 gaming business in Singapore. He also established the Singapore business for Microsoft Surface computing devices.

At Singapore Press Holdings, he was an award-winning journalist and photojournalist. As editor, he trained journalists while establishing new editorial categories and revenue streams.

He was the recipient of the Singapore Press Holdings scholarship and graduated as valedictorian from Nanyang Technological University.

Ian has combined his expertise in technology, storytelling, visual art, and pedagogy to help people grow and learn using the power of words, visuals and AI. He also contributes commentaries and quotes to national media on topics ranging from communications to lifelong learning.
