Dr Li Dong
Senior Lecturer, School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering

Dr. Li Dong is currently a Senior Lecturer at the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He earned his BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Wuhan University of Science and Technology, an MSc in Industrial Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and a Ph.D. in Operations Management from the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. Before joining NTU, Dr. Li Dong held roles as Research Fellow at the MIT-SUTD International Design Center (2015-2017), Assistant Professor at Lingnan College, Sun Yat-sen University (2017-2022), and Senior Scientist at the Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC), A*STAR (2022-2023).

His current research focuses on the interfaces of economics and operations, with particular interests in employing optimization, game-theoretic and data-driven models to analyse optimal decisions for operations and supply chain management, new business models, and corporate sustainability strategies. His research work has been published in top-tier and leading scientific journals, including Management Science, Production and Operations Management, European Journal of Operational Research, Omega, International Journal of Production Research, etc. He serves as the referee for over ten academic journals.

Dr. Li Dong actively collaborates with industries while doing research, teaching, and consulting. His research work has generated real-world impact and has received important media coverage. Notably, his study on designing supply chain mechanisms for mitigating shortages of critical supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic has been highlighted by the World Economic Forum at Davos 2023. Additionally, he has designed Resilience+, a comprehensive supply chain resilience assessment tool, showcased at ITAP 2023 as a representative technology of A*STAR, and acknowledged by the Prime Minister's Office Singapore.

Dr. Li Dong teaches data analytics, operations management, and supply chain management courses for undergraduate, graduate, MBA, and executive programs. Furthermore, as an advisor, he has delivered training and consultancy services to prominent companies such as State Grid, Huawei, Sam's West, ITC, Edwards Lifesciences, among others.
