Dr Jernice Tan
Senior Lecturer, National Institute of Education - Physical Education & Sports Science
 
Jernice TAN is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Science (PESS), National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Her teaching responsibilities include courses in Adapted Physical Activity and Growth & Motor Development. Her research interests encompass a diverse range of areas, including motor development, adapted physical education, inclusive physical activity, disability sports, early childhood and early intervention.

Jernice earned her doctorate with the support of the NTU Scholarship. During her doctoral studies, she received the NIE Dean's Commendation Award for Research for three consecutive years. Prior to pursuing her doctorate studies, Jernice managed business development and training services in multinational corporations. Additionally, she held leadership positions, implemented training and development programs for ministries, and served as an early childhood physical educator.

Following her doctoral studies, Jernice worked in the polytechnic setting, where she established a consistent track record of securing research grants and collaborating with industry partners. Notably, she garnered several innovative project awards, including the Ministry of Education Innergy Sliver Award (2020) and held multiple commercial licensing agreements with her previous employer. Since then, she has accumulated over a decade of teaching experience at the tertiary level.
