Dr Wong Chuan Yuh Ethan
Lecturer, National Institute of Education - Psychology and Child & Human Development
Ethan Wong is a Lecturer with the Psychology and Child & Human Development Academic Group at the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Ethan brings a unique blend of practical experience and academic knowledge to his role, having held several leadership positions within the Ministry of Education (MOE) school system and having served as a Teaching Fellow.

Ethan began his career in education as a secondary school teacher, specialising in Design & Technology and Mathematics from 2003 to 2015. He was promoted to Subject Head in 2008, Head of Department in 2012, and School Staff Development in 2015, demonstrating his leadership abilities and innovative approach to education.

Ethan then transitioned into academia and served as a Teaching Fellow from 2016 to 2023, where he continued to inspire and mentor aspiring educators. In 2023, he received the Dean’s Commendation for Research for advancing educational knowledge and practice. He completed his PhD thesis on Teacher Professional Identity in 2002.

Ethan’s research interests focus on teacher education, teacher identity development, and motivation. He is committed to enhancing pedagogical practices and empowering educators through innovative and engaging teaching methods, rigorous scholarship, and impactful service. He aims to inspire and shape the next generation of educators and educational leaders.
