Dr Yancy Toh’s research interests span educational leadership, innovation diffusion, complex systems, ICT-mediated pedagogical practices and more recently, research-practice-community partnership. Through an ecological lens, she examines the multi-faceted influences that shape organisations’ and systems’ capacity to adapt and learn effectively.
Dr Yancy Toh has successfully secured multiple competitive research grants and led commissioned research project. Recognised as one of the promising researchers in NIE’s 2017 Research Excellence Report, she has produced over 70 academic outputs, including book chapters, peer-reviewed journal articles, conference presentations and white papers with esteemed organisations such as the OECD and UNESCO as well as various thought leadership centres (see link: https://yancytoh.com/?page_id=199). She served on the MOE’s Translational Research, Innovation and Scaling (TRIS) committee, where she evaluated grant proposals submitted by schools and Institutes of Higher Learning. Additionally, Dr Yancy Toh has provided consultancy on MOE’s systemic efforts to enhance ICT integration in schools, with her analytical framework being incorporated into the professional development workshops for school leaders.
Before returning to academia, Dr Yancy Toh was Vice President and Head of Research and Development at the Stewardship Asia Centre—a non-profit thought leadership and capability building centre established under the Temasek Trust. There, she led a multidisciplinary team conducting research on how organisations and individuals can create long-term value for stakeholders, society, future generations, and the environment.
As a former school teacher, Dr Yancy Toh has a strong background in curriculum development and instructional design, having devised pedagogical resources and facilitated learning for schools, academic institutions and corporate organisations. Her experience with e-learning companies has further equipped her with expertise in digital learning resource development. This breadth of engagement has provided her with extensive exposure to various pedagogical and curriculum design approaches.
With a career spanning academia, schools, industry and non-profit sector, Dr Yancy Toh strives to bridge policy, theory and practice. She is dedicated to translating evidence-informed insights into actionable and meaningful outcomes for stakeholders.
