Abstract
This comparative study attempts to shed light, from a ‘glocal’ perspective, on the nature of the Khmer Rouge ‘genocide’. It is well understood that in the general come the specifics, and it is through such a prism that we will endeavor to locate the Cambodian genocide in the long history of genocides. In doing so, this research will inquire about what made Khmer Rouge genocide different from all other genocides, and how the work of memorialization has been transmuted in the aftermath of destruction.
