dc.description.abstractIn this paper, we propose several surface patterning methods utilizing the thermo- and chemo-responsive shape memory effect (SME) in polymeric materials. Different micro/nano-scale surface patterns are obtained by utilizing these methods individually or combined. As shown here, both size and shape of resultant patterns can be well controlled. Furthermore, reversible surface pattern and three dimensional (3-D) pattern can be achieved. This work demonstrates some novel, simple and cost-effective approaches to fabricate 2-D and 3-D patterns.en_US
