Abstract: We consider a higher order Sturm-Liouville boundary value problem (BVP) where the nonlinear term involves derivatives – such cases are seldom investigated in the literature due to the complexity introduced by the derivatives. A new technique is used to obtain existence criteria for at least one positive solution of the BVP. We demonstrate the usefulness of the results obtained by an example with known positive solutions.
