A mesoporous carbon nanmomaterial possessing high BET surface area (ca 785 m2/g) and unique pore size (6-7 nm with narrow PSD) has been prepared directly by modified cyclodextrin-silica nanocasting, a simple, one-step preparative route to mesoporous carbon with the pore size controlled by a silica template.
