dc.description.abstractIncreasing globalization and the move towards more knowledge-based economies in the new millennium brings new challenges to the traditional approach in the education of engineers. Equipping engineering graduates with multidisciplinary knowledge and visual language skills will give them that additional competitive advantage, developing the other half of their brains and allowing them to be more innovative and creative. This paper explores the effectiveness of an approach in developing visual language skills in engineering students who have little or no background in the visual arts. Their performance in their group projects are discussed together with the effect of group dynamics in their learning process.en_US
