Novel electricity source from food waste using microbial fuel cell
Date of Issue2007
School of Civil and Environmental Engineering
A microbial fuel cell is an electrochemical device which converts chemical energy of substrate to electrical energy by catalytic actions of microorganisms. Microbes in the anode compartment oxidize substrate (electron donor) that would further generate electrons and protons. Electrons are transferred to the cathode compartment through the circuit, and the protons through the membrane. [5th Award]
