Abstract: This report seeks to investigate the ability of Singapore taxpayers to perceive the equivalence of various savings proposals presented. These savings proposals were presented in different forms: 1) with and without applicable income tax rate, 2) in percentage rather than in dollar terms, 3) as a tax deduction rather than a direct subsidy. In addition, we seek to test the relevance of various socio-economic characteristics in explaining the differing views.
