Abstract: In view of more professionals undergoing career transitions that are considered unusual in the eyes of a career counselor, and with little prior research in this area, it is thus the aim of our paper to cast some light onto such unusual career transitions. Our study confines itself to the accounting and auditing industry, with emphasis placed on unusual and unrelated career transitions. We aim to find the reasons calling for such a career change by conducting a survey on current accountants and auditors.
