Examination of inter-country income inequality using Penn World Table Data.

Abstract

The central objective of this research project is to empirically examine inter-country inequality for the period 1960 to 1995. That is, we look at whether income inequalityamong countries has been rising or falling. Our project is therefore essentially an empirical test of the convergence hypothesis. Our data set comes largely from the Penn World Table version 5.6. Our sample covers 162 countries and the period 1960 to 1995.
