Abstract: The basic objective of this study is to determine the validity of these alternative hypotheses in the banking context of East Asian countries. Four countries in the region: Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Korea are used in the study. A second objective of the paper is to determine whether the concentration-performance relationship is linear and continuous, or different at different levels of concentration.
