Abstract: The purpose of our study is to provide an overview of the various issues involved in listing Chinese companies on the Stock Exchange of Singapore (SES). Our study focuses on the differences between the company law of China and Singapore and its implications on investors. Problems faced by the parties (underwriters, legal advisors, and auditors) involved in the listing porcess, are also discussed at length. A review of the performance of the two companies (China Merchants Shekou Port Service Co Ltd [CSMP] and Tianjin Zhong Xin Pharmaceutical Corp Ltd) selected for our case study is also provided to evaluate the future prospects of Chinese companies on the SES if they so choose to list in Singapore.
