Abstract: Question asking and answering by students in a typical break-up class are important avenues for them to gain new knowledge, clarify doubts and enhanced their intellectual development. However, many students are reluctant to speak up in class. Due to the importance of classroom/student participation, the authors decided that is is crucial to find out what are the factors that influence this important aspect of a student's learning process. Insights from this study can be used to structure a better learning environment for students.
