Abstract: This project examines the use of microcredit as a poverty alleviation tool in Vietnam. This study explores the definition of microcredit, how it works and whether it can be feasibly applied to Vietnam. The key players in Vietnam’s microcredit scheme include the Vietnamese government, the State Bank of Vietnam and the Non-Governmental Organisations. The role of the Vietnam Bank for the Poor (VBP) in Vietnam’s poverty-reduction programme is also examined in this project.
