Before these conventional activities disappeared due to fierce competitions, we hoped to trace the evolution of the retail industry in Singapore, so as to provide a better understanding and appreciation towards the historical events that have brought changes into our lives today. In order to have a clearer picture of the past events, we have recognized the key factor that has driven the civilization of Singapore this far. The three basic necessities for survival are food, clothing and shelter.
