Abstract: Satellite networks provide long-haul telecommunication facilities to interconnect terrestrial networks and also, provide communication services to mobile customers. A high-speed backbone network such as ATM provides infrastructure for terrestrial communication. Interconnecting ATM and satellite system is required to transport large bandwidth teleservices to remote areas and mobile customers. This project aims to design and evaluate an ATM and Satellite Interconnecting System, which can extend or bring into being the multimedia superhighway in the near future.
