Abstract: The Programmable logic controller (PLC) has been with the control/automation industries for quite some time and has proven itself over and again in its flexibility, reliability and robustness. The ladder logic programming language (LLPL) used commonly to program the PLC, however, has its disadvantages, e.g. it is difficult to comprehend and maintain.
