Title: | Conceptual design & demonstration of a portable tourist information system | Authors: | Xu, Hui | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Systems engineering | Issue Date: | 1999 | Abstract: | To solve problems that tourists might encounter and to help them enjoy to the fullest their stay in Singapore, a tourist information system was developed. To ensure a usable system, a user-centered design approach was applied in its development. A user requirements survey was thus conducted to determine tourist interests with respect to the aim of their trip, age, gender and culture & nationality. The results indicated that tourists were interested mainly in tour attractions, shopping, culture, maps, food and hotels. On the basis of the survey results, system functions were defined. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/13466 | Schools: | School of Mechanical and Production Engineering | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
