Authors: Xu, Hui

Issue Date: 1999
Abstract: To solve problems that tourists might encounter and to help them enjoy to the fullest their stay in Singapore, a tourist information system was developed. To ensure a usable system, a user-centered design approach was applied in its development. A user requirements survey was thus conducted to determine tourist interests with respect to the aim of their trip, age, gender and culture & nationality. The results indicated that tourists were interested mainly in tour attractions, shopping, culture, maps, food and hotels. On the basis of the survey results, system functions were defined.
