Title: | Development of a new non-invasive ventilation system | Authors: | Li, Nan. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Mechanical engineering::Assistive technology | Issue Date: | 1998 | Abstract: | The thesis describes the design and development of a new mode of non-invasive medical ventilation known as Proportional Assist Ventilation (PAV). This mode of mechanical ventilation is designed to assist patients who can breathe spontaneously to some extent but unable to wean, therefore requiring the assistance of mechanical ventilation. The airway pressure provided by PAV is proportionally applied from breath to breath as well as continuously throughout each inspiration on the basis of the patients' effort. Therefore it is more comfortable to the patients. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/13479 | Schools: | School of Mechanical and Production Engineering | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
