Abstract: The computer hard disk drive industry operates in a turbulent business environment with ramifications on its total profitability. Company X, a multinational hard disk drive manufacturer, intends to remain profitable in the face of market uncertainties. In order to do so, it recognised that its current product design should be reviewed to increase productivity and manage its overall scrap level.
