dc.description.abstractPlasma sprayed ceramic coatings are used on the compressor, combustion chamber, fuel vaporizers, nozzle guide vane platforms, turbine aerofoil components of aero-engines and in other high-temperature applications. In some instances, the application of transient thermal loads causes cracks to initiate and later propagate resulting in complete failure of the ceramic coatings.en_US
