According to the survey, most of the internet users are now spending the average of two hours and twenty-two minutes per day on social networking and messaging platforms. Indeed, social networking provides many conveniences for most people, but it also carries many negative consequences, for instance, people who are addicted to virtual social platforms lack the emotional connection. Virtual social platforms decrease the face-to-face communication skills, conveys inauthentic expression of feeling and so on. The aim of this project is to propose a solution to this phenomenon, to encourage the internet users to interact and engage more in social events, to reduce the time spent on virtual social platforms. To achieve the above result. An IOS mobile application was proposed to be developed which is a location based IOS application that matches events created by users to other users. Users can specify their interests in various topics that can be modified at any time, these preferences will be used to serve interest-specific events to them. Besides, users are able to view events around their vicinity and the distance search range can be tweaked at any time. Moreover, any users can be organizers as well, they’re able to post new events and edit the content if need. Furthermore, this IOS application also incorporates various quality-of-life features such as an intuitive user interface, ability to get step by step direction of an event, social media sharing and many more.
