南方艺术团/南方艺术研究会（1972-1997）= Southern arts society (1972-1997)

Abstract

南方艺术团成立于1972年，当时中国社会主义现实主义传入新马，南方艺术团的创作站在工人阶级的立场为劳动人民发声，作品具有左倾影子。南方艺术团在1976年改名为南方艺术研究会。1976年，新加坡政府援引内部安全法令，逮捕一群涉及马来亚共产党地下活动文艺工作者，其中包括南方艺术研究会的成员。南方艺术研究会受“马共风波”的影响，暂停了所有活动，直到1979年后才重返戏剧界。本论文将研究南方艺术团与南方艺术研究会1972年至1997年的戏剧演出，并探讨南方艺术研究会在经历“马共风波”后，如何因应政治、社会、时代的变化而作出调整。The Southern Arts Society was founded in 1972 and it performed theatre works that emphasised on the working class and communist ideologies. In 1976, the Singapore government arrested a group of dramatist under the Internal Security Act, including several members from Southern Arts Society. As a result, Southern Arts Society was affected and all it's activities halted to a stop. The Southern Arts Society only resumed their activities in 1979. This essay focuses on theatrical performance by the Southern Arts Society from 1972 to 1997, and it’s efforts made to adapt to political and social situations in Singapore.
