Ne Zha is not originated from China, instead, it came from Buddhism. The well-known version of The story of Ne Zha was only formed after hundreds years of adaptations in ancient China. It is now often been adapted into dramas and films, even in other countries such as Japan and Singapore. This essay focused on the animated film Ne Zha and analysed the current situation of adaptation from two perspectives. One of which is the changes made on the main character, Ne Zha; the other is to discuss the importance of the supporting characters and the adaptations made on them. Finally, this film was used as an entry point to examine the area of concerns in modern adaptations, and the successful reasons of this film.
