The prison in post-independent Singapore

Abstract

"The prison is interesting both as a building and as an idea. I argue that the historical contexts and challenges that influence the government in forming their policies augmented and varied the role of the Singapore prison in society. Prison will be a looking glass, to understand the concept of punishment, the rule of law in Singapore and of rehabilitation in Singapore.”
