dc.description.abstractThis study adopts a historical research methodology and a narrative form to examine the development of China-ASEAN strategic relationship in the period from 2003 to 2018. It gives a comprehensive overview of the China-ASEAN relations from four aspects: namely politics, economy, people-to-people exchange as well as security and defence. Following that, the dissertation analyzes the main challenges in the bilateral relations and proposes political recommendations for further development of China-ASEAN cooperation to promote regional peace, advance economic cooperation and build an even closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.en_US
